Challenge

Syngenta, a major agricultural tech company headquartered in Switzerland with employees in more than 100 countries, faced challenges in achieving synergy across its diverse, increasingly large organization. The company had no standardized process for product management and found its tools for planning and roadmapping to be lacking. Without an effective tool, product teams could not share roadmaps to help stakeholders understand their initiatives.

Solution

Syngenta identified the following criteria as essential for its ideal solution: a digital platform with single sign-on, integration with Jira, and sharing capabilities. The solution came from within: Strider, a Syngenta acquisition, had already found success with ProductPlan. An internal product manager spearheaded the rollout and adoption of ProductPlan across Syngenta at large, providing its teams with a common, standardized digital solution.

Results

ProductPlan has become the common source of product management for Syngenta, standardizing its processes across global teams. The platform has improved Syngenta’s internal transparency and communication; leaders and team members can instantly access product managers’ roadmaps and see what their next 12 months of work look like, as well as their backlogs. Further, the ability to roll roadmaps into portfolio views has been a critical feature for Syngenta.

Key Results

  • Standardized processes across a diverse global organization
  • Easy visibility for stakeholders into long-term plans via portfolio views of roadmaps
  • Straightforward backlog and idea management

65.2%

of product organizations are in the middle stages of maturity, either transitioning to or partially product-led, and Syngenta's lack of any standardized PM process before ProductPlan placed them squarely in this category

40.2%

of respondents say their product strategy, discovery, roadmaps, and launch plans live across multiple tools with limited or no integration, the exact environment Syngenta had before standardizing globally on ProductPlan.

36.5%

of teams state strategy definition and alignment is the second-highest investment priority for product teams in 2026, validating that Syngenta's initiative to roll out a common roadmapping platform globally was ahead of an industry-wide imperative.

Standardization is a scary word that’s viewed as being slow and heavy-handed and stifling innovation, but ProductPlan was an accelerator for us.
